Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Your book
- Internet access
- Adobe Publisher / 8.0
Step1
Copyright your book. If you have just completed your book, you want to start with getting it copyrighted. You can do this by filing electronically or sending in a copy of your book to the Library of Congress, along with an application and fee for filing. This will allow you to claim the book and all of the rights that are a part of it.
Step2
Format your book. It is best to use a program such as Adobe Reader. You want to make sure that it has security settings that do not allow others to copy your book, but only to read it. You will also want to make sure that the format includes things such as a title page, copyright page, table of contents and a layout with the page numbers that is consistent.
Step3
Grab the attention of the reader. Even online, the reader will judge a book by it's cover. You will want to make sure that your title page also includes book graphics in order to set your book apart. Simple things, such as color added to your book or a graphic that you create from Adobe Illustrator can be used to set your book apart from others.
Step4
Build spaces to sell or give away your e-book. Many will use their own website and upload the book as a file that others can download. There are also self-publishing options that are available online that will allow you to set up your own store. If you are interested in selling your own e-book, you can find secure download software that doesn't allow for a download until payment is made.
