No matter where you live, lobster is available and a tasty meal. However, many people are unsure of how to cook or remove the tail of a lobster. Since lobster is expensive, it is important to properly remove the tail and not ruin the lobster in any way. This task is a lot easier than it seems when you follow the steps below!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lobster
  • Kitchen shears
  • Shallow pan
  • Stove or grill
  • Butter

    How to Split a Lobster Tail

  1. Step 1

    Thaw the lobster so it will be more tender and easier to work with than a frozen lobster.

  2. Step 2

    Insert the kitchen shears between the meat and hard shell on the back of the lobster.

  3. Step 3

    Cut the shell down the center, but make sure to leave the fan tail together and do not remove the underside membrane.

  4. Step 4

    Position the lobster tails with the membrane side up in a pan with a small amount of water.

  5. Step 5

    Broil about 4 to 5 inches away from heat for 2 to 5 minutes.

  6. Step 6

    Turn and brush with melted butter.

  7. Step 7

    Enjoy!
