Power yoga gained its popularity in the United States in the 1990s. It is a vinyasa-style yoga that is similar to Ashtanga yoga. How to Gain Strength With Power Yoga

  1. Step 1

Performing power yoga requires that you be physically fit. It is not as gentle as other yoga classes and the class is set at a brisk pace. You should have a good understanding of yoga before starting and also be familiar with the Sun Salutation.

  2. Step 2

Warm up before practicing power yoga. No yoga should be done with a cold body. Do at least 10 minutes of cardio before performing power yoga. This will warm up your muscles and help you build strength and prevent injury.

  3. Step 3

Work both the left and right side of your body in order to strengthen your entire body.

  4. Step 4

Contact a local yoga instructor if you are looking to strengthen a particular part of your body. The instructor can explain which exercises focus on which part of the body.

  5. Step 5

Practice yoga at least once a week in order to continue to build strength. Just like going to the gym, you will need to continue to practice yoga in order to see results.
