Gain Flexibility With Power Yoga

Power yoga gained its popularity in the United States in the 1990s. It is a vinyasa-style yoga that is similar to Ashtanga yoga. The difference between power yoga and other styles of yoga is that power yoga focuses on the strength and flexibility of the body. It does this by using both physical, mental and spiritual elements from the body. However, it is more focused on the body as opposed to mental aspects and chanting. As mentioned before, flexibility is very important in this practice of yoga. After reading this article, you will have a better understanding of how to gain flexibility by practicing power yoga.

How to Gain Flexibility With Power Yoga

  1. Step 1

Prepare yourself: Make sure that you are physically ready to perform power yoga. Power yoga is not a gentle practice. Physical fitness is recommended. Keep in mind that you must know the Sun Salutation before performing power yoga.

  2. Step 2

Gaining flexibility: To do so, complete each work out to the best of your ability. If you are taking a class, the teacher may show you advanced poses to maximize your flexibility. You should do these poses as they will exercise rigid parts of your body that are not usually exercised.

  3. Step 3

Practice makes perfect. You will not see any major changes in flexibility until you take a few classes. Each time you practice yoga, your body will gain more flexibility and you will be able to stretch further.

  4. Step 4

Consistently practice yoga to see results. If you only do the practice a few times a month, your ligaments will not be used to stretching and you will not see the best results.

  5. Step 5

Try different power yoga classes to keep yourself from being bored and also to use different parts of your body. Since power yoga does not have a specific set of poses, all classes will vary from one another.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you feel any discomfort when practicing yoga, immediately stop.
