Many children and adults have food allergies that can make them very uncomfortable after consuming an allergen and make eating out or at friends' houses inconvenient or impossible. However, by incorporating gelatin into a regular diet, you can help the stomach heal and even prevent mild food allergies from recurring. In this article, we will discuss how to make a tasty soup that will help coat and heal the stomach to prevent further allergy symptoms.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tbsp. gelatin
  • 1 cup of water
  • Pot
  • Spoon
  • Broccoli, carrots or other vegetables (optional)
  • Eggs (optional)
  • 1 cup of chicken broth (optional)
  1. Step 1
Warm the water in a pan or microwave

Warm 1 cup of water in a pan. If you wish, warm the cup of chicken broth in the same pot at this time. Heat the liquid until it is hot, but not boiling. The directions on the gelatin package may require less water in order to allow the gelatin to firm up. You are using a full cup because you do not want the gelatin to set.

  2. Step 2

Mix in 1 tablespoon of gelatin. Stir the mixture until the gelatin has dissolved. There will be enough liquid that the mixture will not "set up," but it may thicken slightly.

Add soup ingredients. If you wish, you can add vegetables like broccoli, carrots, corn or tomatoes to the broth to make it more of a meal. Some cooks even add eggs.

  4. Step 4

Cook on low heat for about an hour. Cover the pot and stir occasionally. When the vegetables are tender, the soup is done.

  5. Step 5

Serve your soup. Because there is a relatively small amount of gelatin in the broth, you can make a large batch and then save part of it for later if you wish. It should not congeal in the refrigerator. If it does, simply microwave the container before eating.

Tips & Warnings
  • This soup should become a regular part of you or your child's eating schedule. Over time the gelatin will help heal damage to the stomach and can also improve your body's ability to absorb nutrients. However, a person with allergies needs to eat it regularly for about a month to see results.
  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed in this article, do not include them in your soup. The important ingredients are gelatin and water. Other soup ingredients can be added or left out at your discretion.
