Where do you work when there's no room? Where do you keep small, items that are easily lost? You need to make sure that you're utilizing all the space that you have. Here are some tips for using the back of cabinet doors for all kinds of handy things.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Blackboard paint

The Space is There! Find it!

Step1
Transform the inside of one or more cabinet doors into blackboards. This will entertain little ones while you cook and give you a place to jot down important appointments or things to do. You can buy blackboard paint in red, green and black at most places where paint is sold. It will probably be cheapest in a department store.
Step2
Use cork tiles to make a bulletin board inside a cabinet. Cut the cork to fit inside. You'll have to cut it into three segments-- one between each shelf and make sure to trim it around the edges so the door with close. Use one cork board to pin up current bills and thumb tack a book of stamps and even a couple of extra envelopes. Use another section for business and appointment cards and the third one for coupons and grocery lists. You can also use zipper bags that are tacked up to hold small items like business cards or stamps.
Step3
Cup hooks can be great for maximizing cupboard door space. Line up a few but make sure that things are short enough to not hit a shelf or the door won't close. Hang small utensils, pot holders, and other small items from them.
Step4
Use another cabinet door for a calendar. Hang it just above the shelf--the cabinet door can close even with a few pages of the top of the calendar hitting. You can use this area to keep up with school information, important dates and more.
Step5
Use pantry doors to hang up sturdy plastic resealable bags to hold drink mixes and other small or flat items. You can put tiny shelves on the back of cabinet doors by the stove to hold spices, too. Step6
Use these ideas to maximize space and also to help you get more organized. So much time and effort is saved by knowing just where things are and this will help.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tape the back of cabinets off with painter's or masking tape when painting or when adding cork tiles to the doors. This will prevent messes and errors.
