    Things You'll Need

    • Large, deep bowl that can withstand really hot water

Heat water almost to boiling. Pour the water into a heatproof bowl large and deep enough to submerge the bottom glass. (You can use the sink if you haven't got a large enough bowl.) Fill the bowl up to about 2 inches from the top.

Submerge the bottom glass in the hot water. Stand it up in the bottom of the bowl. Hold it down if it won't stay. The hot water will make the glass expand slightly to ease removal.

Pour cold water into the top glass. If you don't have a cold-water tap on your fridge or water dispenser, use ice cubes to get it good and cold. The cold water will make the top glass contract slightly.

Wait 10 seconds and gently pull the glasses apart. If they don't come apart really easily, let them sit a little longer and try again. This really works. It saves your glasses and your hands from being cut.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Use really hot and really cold water for best results.

    • Don't try to force the glasses apart. They could break and give you a nasty cut.
