There are many ways to improve your digestive health. This article will educate you on how to use food to help with your digestion.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Maintain a diet high in fiber. Fiber is the indigestible portion of plant food that moves food through the digestive system absorbing water and easing defecation. Because of the ability of fiber to absorb, this can ease constipation symptoms making it easy for you to go to the bathroom. In order to regulate your digestive system, you should consume at least 30 grams of fiber each day as part of a healthy diet. If you have questions about fiber supplements please consult your doctor.

  2. Step 2

Buy yogurts and foods that contain probiotics. Probiotics such as bifidobacterium are known as "good bacteria." These bacteria are helpful in reducing the following complications: diarrhea, irritable bowel symptoms, recurring vaginal yeast infections in women, flatulence and bad breath. A wide variety of dairy products contain these probiotics. Consult your doctor if you are confused about what to take.

  3. Step 3

Drink water. Drinking water can help your digestive system settle down after eating foods that can upset your stomach. You should drink at least 5-8 8 fl oz glasses of water (preferably purified) each day to ensure intestinal health. If you need help on alternative drinks that you can drink to improve and maintain intestinal health, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
