Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • steak
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 onion
  • Extra Virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Tin foil
  • Steak seasoning or salt and pepper

    Cooking A Good Steak

  1. Step 1

Peel and mince garlic. . Peel and slice onion into rings and set both aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Take a frying pan and pour in enough olive oil to coat the bottom. Place on medium heat and wait till oil is very hot. .While oil is heating, season steak on both sides. Carefully put steak in oil and sear on each side of the meat. This is not done to seal in juices, but to add more and varied flavor to the steak. Fry each side until deeply browned. Remove steak from pan and set aside.

  3. Step 3

In same frying pan add the garlic, onions, and sugar to the oil. Heat on medium till onions are browned and caramelized. Remove from heat.

  4. Step 4

Place steak in tin foil and top with onion mixture. If you're making more than one steak, each piece should be wrapped separately. Seal well and put on oven rack. Let bake for 1 hour.

  5. Step 5

Remove from oven and set in a pan while you remove the tin foil. It will be very juicy but the pan will catch the drippings. Let steak set a couple minutes and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can sear the steak without frying in oil by broiling close to the heat.
  • You can also add sliced mushrooms to the onion mixture, and if you wish, leave out the sugar.
  • Steak will be very hot so take care when removing from foil, the first opening you make will release burning steam.
