The first thing you need to do is identify where the boredom is coming from. Sit your child down and explain to them that you want to help them make the most of their time at school. Ask them what they like about school, and what they don't. Can your child identify the times they are feeling bored? If they aren't sure ask them to carry a small notebook at school for a week and record any times they begin to feel bored, and what they were doing at the time.

Encourage the things your child does like. If you discover that your child has an interest in learning to sew than call the school and see if one of your child's electives can be a sewing class. If they like creating things out of wood, ask the school to enroll your child in a woodshop class. Making sure your child is in an elective that suits them is key.

Work with teachers to create a curriculum your child will respond too. Obviously you can't stop a child from getting homework assignments, but you can get those assignments changed to suit your child. If your child love comic book heroes and their writing assignment is "How Beautiful are the Butterflies" than you can request a meeting with the teacher and ask if he or she could allow your child's writing assignments to be based on some of the comic book hereos. The important thing is your child's writing skills, not what they are writing about.

Identify if your child is gifted or needs special classes. Your child may be bored because your child's curriculum is either too hard or too easy. Almost every school offers classes in these spectrums so contact your child's teacher to see if your child could give one of those classes a try. If it works out than you are sure to alleviate some of your child's boredom if not all of it.

Let your child blog. Set up a private blog for your child and show them how to use it. Allowing them to blog is great for writing experience and it gives them a place to get all of the feelings out. See if your child can work on it during computer class. If your child likes this idea they will begin to look forward to that time and won't concentrate so much on what was boring them before. Plus it is giving them something creative to do with their time.

Tips & Warnings
Consider a trade high school. There are plenty of high schools out there where half of the day students get to work on a trade. Some of the things offered are auto mechanics, hospitality, hair dresser, construction, and marine biology.
Not addressing the issue of boredom is a big mistake. The problems will only get worse and your child may end up looking to drugs or alcohol to fill the void they feel. Encouraging and getting them involved in creative activities can prevent this from happening.
