The prongball is a baseball pitch similar to a changeup, and is primarily used by little league or youth baseball pitchers. The prongball is easy to learn and throw; it puts very little stress on a pitcher's elbow, making it an ideal off-speed pitch for any young pitcher's arsenal.

    How to Throw a Prongball

  1. Step 1

Hold the ball in your non-pitching hand, with the horseshoes of the ball pointing directing away from you.

  2. Step 2

With your pitching hand, grip the ball so your index and ring finger run along the top seams, while your pinkie and thumb run along the bottom seams. You middle finger should fall in the middle of the top horseshoe.

  3. Step 3

Throw the prongball just as you would a fastball.

Tips & Warnings
  • Because of its lack of movement and its slow speed, the prongball should typically be used sparingly.
