How to Win PvP Gear in World of Warcraft

Acquiring player-versus-player (PvP) gear in World of Warcraft is necessary to be competitive in battlegrounds and arenas. It's also an easier way to get epic-quality items than acquiring them by raiding.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase PvP gear with honor points and battleground tokens or arena points.

    • 2

Gain honor points by competing in battlegrounds (Alterac Valley, Arathi Basin, Warsong Gulch and Eye of the Storm). You can earn points for every kill (or for being in the vicinity of a kill) and for achieving specific battleground objectives.

    • 3

Collect battleground tokens, which are required for most PvP gear. For each win, you will gain three tokens for that specific battleground. You still get one token if you lose.

    • 4

Know the rules for each battleground before entering. Certain strategies work better than others, and you don't want to waste your time by fighting over an area that is strategically useless.

    • 5

Purchase individual pieces of PvP gear once you have enough honor points and tokens. Buy from vendors in the Champion's Hall in Stormwind (for Alliance) and the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar (for Horde).

    • 6

Collect arena points, which are necessary to get the best PvP gear. These points are awarded based on the highest personal ranking you have from all three possible arena teams (two-man, three-man or five-man). Arena points are awarded weekly, and you must compete in at least 30 percent of your team's matches to gain arena points for that week.

    • 7

Purchase arena gear from the arena vendors located outside the location of each arena.

Tips & Warnings

  • Know which PvP pieces will give you the greatest stat increases, and save for those pieces first.

  • If you have extra battleground tokens, you can exchange them for high-quality potions from the battleground vendors.

  • Do not expect to win many PvP battles if you are just starting out, since having good gear makes all the difference. Remember, though, that you gain points even when you lose.
