Things You'll Need:
- Roasting pan and rack
- Salt
- Pepper
- 3 lb. pork roast
- Oil
- Rosemary
- Sage
- Thyme
-
Step 1
In order to cook a pork roast, begin by placing the oven rack in the center of the oven and preheating the oven to 450 degrees.
-
Step 2
Although you may be tempted to cut off the layers of fat, don't! This will ensure that the meat is tender and juicy throughout cooking.
-
Step 3
Pork roast would be nothing without a little spice so combine one tablespoon of oil and a combined tablespoon of rosemary, sage and thyme. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper. Mix well.
-
Step 4
Pour the mix onto the pork roast and run the mixture all over making sure to cover all sides.
-
Step 5
Place the pork roast on top of a rack in the roasting pan with the fat side on top.
-
Step 6
Place the pork roast into the oven at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. When you hear the timer, lower the temperature to 250 degrees. Continue cooking the roast for 50 to 80 minutes or until the thermometer reads 150 degrees.
-
Step 7
Take the pork roast out of the oven and let it sit for fifteen minutes as the meat temperature will continue to rise. Slice the three pound pork roast with an electric knife or a sharp knife. You have just created a beautiful pork roast that serves six servings.
