How to Reduce Pressure in Golf

  1. Step 1

Take a deep breath before each swing.

  2. Step 2

Relax your muscles, especially your shoulders and neck. Don’t clench or tighten up. Tightening up can ruin your form.

  3. Step 3

Play your game. Don’t change your style of play because of whom you're playing with or the score.

  4. Step 4

Visualization is key. Picture yourself swinging the club perfectly, hitting the ball with flawless form, and the ball rolling into the hole. Also, visualize a great game before you hit the green.

  5. Step 5

Think positive and control your thoughts. Push negative thoughts out of your head. Focus on the things you do that are positive. Learn from mistakes. Then let them go.

  6. Step 6

Avoid caffeine, high sugar, or high fat foods before a golf game. These foods tend to increase tension and stress symptoms.
