Things You'll Need:

Step 1
Think of your question. If you are texting, remember most phones have a 160 character limit, so you will want to make your question concise and precise, Once you know your question, you need to send it to ChaCha via your cell phone. ChaCha does not work with landlines, so you must use your cell phone. You can call ChaCha at (800) 2ChaCha or text your question to 242242. If you call the 1-800 number, say your message at the prompt. ChaCha is supported by most mobile carriers, and while the service itself is free, the usual voice and text charges to apply. Please try not to ask more than one question per text. The answers are texted back to you, and there is a 160 character limit. Your questions may not be answered fully in that limit.

Step 2
Once you have asked your question, it will be sent to a ChaCha guide. Guides are trained to find your answer and send a return text as soon as possible. ChaCha guides are carefully selected and go through many tests before they go live. In most cases, you may have a reply in a matter of minutes.
-
Step 3
Once you have your reply, you are ready to go. If you have additional questions, you can just simply reply to the text just like if you were texting a friend. Your follow up question might not go to the same guide you had before, but the new guide will be able to see all of the questions you have asked. He will be able to determine it is a follow up question.

Step 4
If you like the service ChaCha provides, you can setup your own account on their website. Go to www.ChaCha.com to create your user account and register your cell phone. Once you have an account, ChaCha will recognize your number, and it will save your questions and answers to your account. It will also list where the guide found your answer. That means if you would like more information about your question now or at a later date, you will have that URL as a reference.
