How to Make Quince Vodka

Vodka is one of the most accessible liquors used in making various cocktails. With a only a few mixers and liqueurs you can make a variety of cocktails each with its own distinctive taste. This is how to make a vodka cocktail known as quince vodka. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 2 large ripe yellow quinces
  • 70cl vodka
  • 60g of sugar
  • A 1 litre preserving jar
  • Sterilized clip top bottles (to be used later on)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients

      Wash the quinces thoroughly and remove all the furry bits.

    • 2

      Grate the entire quince including the core, pips and skin.

    • 3

      Place all of the grated quinces into the jar and add the sugar.

    • 4

      Pour the vodka into the jar and shake the mixture thoroughly until the sugar dissolves.

      Store in a cool dark place for two to three months, remembering to shake the jar every other day for the first two weeks.

      After three months, strain the mixture, using a coffee filter or a muslin cloth, into a clean jar.

      Bottle the strained liquid in the sterilized bottles and store. You will notice that the liquid turns from a golden yellow to a beautiful amber color. It is then ready for consumption.

Tips & Warnings

  • The longer you age the liquor the better tasting it is.

  • You can also add more sugar after the three month aging period if it's not sweet enough.

  • Be sure to use sterilized bottles.
