Instructions

  1. Examine Your Cat's Skin

    • 1

Hold your cat on your lap and run your hand over his fur and skin. Do you feel any scabs? Is the skin dry and flaky? Is your cat scratching all the time? If so, he could have a flea allergy.

    • 2

If fleas are present start by giving him a bath with a flea shampoo. Make sure to rinse thoroughly with warm water and towel dry.

    • 3

Purchase a flea comb if you don't already have one. Comb through your pet's fur once or twice a week to keep him flea free.

    • 4

Purchase a brush made specifically for cats and brush your pet weekly. Brushing will remove loose hair and dry skin. Brushing can also stimulate blood flow thereby aiding hair growth.

Take Stock of Your Cat's Diet

    • 5

Understand that hair loss can result from a lack of proper nutrition. Ask important questions. What type of food are you feeding your pet? Is it an inexpensive off brand? Do you feed your cat a steady diet of dry food?

    • 6

Know that most commercial pet food preparations contain a lot of by-products that don't provide proper nutrition. Your cat needs a diet high in fiber. Switch to organic cat food.

    • 7

Alternate between dry food and canned or moist to ensure that your feline friend gets a balanced diet.

    • 8

Give your cat a vitamin supplement to ensure that he gets the vitamins and minerals that he needs for proper health.

    • 9

Keep in mind that Brewer's yeast with garlic is very beneficial in keeping your cat's skin and fur healthy. Give your cat a supplement of Brewer's yeast and garlic to improve his coat. Omega-3 is essential to healthy skin and hair in your pet. Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in the oils of certain fish such as salmon, tuna and sardines. Most supplements of Brewer's yeast and garlic also contain Omega-3, ensuring that your cat has the best nutrients available for good skin and fur.

Tips & Warnings

  • If hair loss worsens or is accompanied by other symptoms such as weight loss or fever contact your veterinarian. Hair loss could be a symptom of an underlying health condition that requires proper medical treatment.
