Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • For the crust, your choice of one of the following:
  • Ready made pizza crust
  • Ready made dough
  • Roll out sugar cookies dough
  • Brownie mix (plus oil, water, and eggs)
  • Shortbread crust : Made with 1 cup margarine, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 cups flour, and 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • For the sauce, your choice of one of the following:
  • 8 oz. of cream cheese
  • Jar of hot fudge or caramel sauce
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup whipped cream or frozen whipped topping
  • For the toppings, your choice of one or more of the following:
  • 2 cups fresh, sliced fruit
  • 1 can pie filling (cherry or peach)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup shaved chocolate
  • 1/2 cup M & M's
  1. Step 1

Prepare the crust. There are lots of possibilities: You might buy a ready made crust or dough that you can roll out in a circle shape. You can even bake a brownie mix in a round pizza pan for a yummy chocolate crust. Cookie dough crusts made from roll out sugar cookie dough found in the refrigerator section of the grocery store also work well. Here’s a recipe for an easy but tasty shortbread crust: Cream 1 cup margarine, softened with 1/2 cup granulated sugar until fluffy. Stir in 2 cups flour and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Chill dough several hours; divide in half. Roll out into circles on floured surface. Bake at 300 degrees 30 minutes or until golden brown.

  2. Step 2

Decide on a pizza sauce. This is the base for all the toppings you’ll add to your pizza. A few possibilities include the following: softened cream cheese, hot fudge topping (either homemade or from a jar), peanut butter, caramel sauce, whipped cream or Cool Whip.

  3. Step 3

Select the toppings. Again, there are many options. Here are some possibilities, but let your imagination go wild on this one: fresh sliced fruit such as strawberries or peaches, canned fruit pie toppings such as apple or cherry, coconut, chopped nuts, chocolate chips, shaved chocolate or small candies like M&M’s.

  4. Step 4

To serve, use a pizza cutter and slice into wedges.

Tips & Warnings
  • Another entertaining option is to prepare small, individual cookie or other crusts, offer a variety of sauces and toppings, and let guests assemble their own dessert pizzas.
