Clay strawberry come in various sizes, from small to huge, and have holes in the sides for the strawberry plant to grow out of. Growing strawberries in a strawberry pot is next to impossible, so here's another way to use the strawberry pot to make it a focal point in your garden.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Strawberry pot
  • Bag of garden soil
  • 3 or 4 small outdoor plants
  • Gardening gloves
  1. Step 1

Fill the pot with garden soil. Some will fall out the holes, but that's not a problem.

  2. Step 2

Tip the pot on its side as you see in the photo above.

  3. Step 3

Put the pot where you want it in your garden and bury it about 4 inches into the soil.

  4. Step 4

Remove the plants from the nursery pots. Put the smaller ones in the smaller holes and the largest one in the top of the pot. Water the plants and clean off the pot with the hose while you are watering the plants.

  5. Step 5

You can use one kind of plant, but variety is best. If you use different plants, be sure they all have the same water requirements.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use flowering plants--impatiens, perhaps--if you are in the shade. Use mounding plants that will be happy falling and draping over the strawberry pot.
  • If you leave the pot upright, the plants in the bottom holes will not get enough water and die.
