How to Develop Your Intuition

Intuition is comparable to having a sixth sense. Much like an animal that can sense a predator even when the animal can't smell, hear or see the predator, he knows it's there. Intuition is spiritual instinct. When you feel in your gut that something is right or wrong your intuition is talking to you. Intuition does not necessarily speak in terms that we understand. While instinct pulls us in one direction, our physical body may want to go in a different direction. Learning how to develop intuition is a powerful skill. It can help you make the best decisions for yourself and get a glimpse into your subconscious mind. Here are some ways to develop your own intuition.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An open/clear mind

    Do These Exercises Daily

  1. Step 1

Start your intuition exercise by asking yourself a question. Ask a question that you want an answer to. Ask this question over and over for an entire day.

  2. Step 2

Tell yourself that you know the answer to your question. Once you have done that, forget the question. Just leave it alone until you get the answer.

  3. Step 3

Meditate in a quiet location each day to clear your mind. Choose a spot where you will not be disturbed and where you can sit or lie quietly while you repeat one sound or word over and over again in your head. This should eliminate all of the outside noise that's in your mind and let your spirit and body reboot.

  4. Step 4

Think positively. It is so easy to let negative thoughts enter your mind. Instead, push those negative thoughts away with positive affirmations each day.

  5. Step 5

Listen to your intuition when it speaks. It might speak through another person or via an article in the newspaper or it might manifest itself by a strong sensation occurring in your gut. Whatever it is, don't ignore your intuition when it speaks to you.

Tips & Warnings
  • You will get an answer to every question you ask. Be patient. It will always come at the right time no matter how long it takes.
  • If you ask a question and your mind speaks to you, this is not intuition. It is your mind saying what you want to hear or what you think you should be hearing. Intuition will be more of an overwhelming feeling or something that comes from an outside force.

on 7/17/2008 Kendra: Good for you! You just saved your readers a bundle of unnecessary cash on all those Hoo-Ha Method books. Intuitive "knowledge" is about awareness. It's moving around and through each of us all the time. Your "exercises," are pretty much spot on. The "ask the question all day long" is a bit overdone and somewhat contradictory without a little more explanation ... I guess that's what you get for your $$ .. but it clarifies itself as you practice the other steps. IMHO the tip about intuition NOT being cognitive (a voice in the head) is important.
