Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Frontline Plus
  • Scissors
  • Your dog
  • Optional: someone to help keep the dog still if you have a very active and wiggly dog
  1. Step 1

Purchase Frontline Plus taking note of the weight recommendations on the box. Frontline Plus comes in various dosage levels for small, medium and large dogs. Make sure you purchase the correct dosage for the size of your dog.

  2. Step 2

Open the box. The applicators should be green. If yours are blue, you have regular Frontline. (The only difference is that Frontline Plus kills eggs and larvae in addition to adult fleas and ticks. Both products do a good job of controlling fleas and ticks.)

  3. Step 3

Separate one of the applicators from the pack by either tearing at the perforation or using scissors to cut it off.

  4. Step 4

Snip or tear off the top of the packaging around the applicator. Peel off the foil backing and remover applicator.

  5. Step 5

Hold the applicator upright and snap off the tip, making sure you snap it away from you.

  6. Step 6

    Remove your dog's collar.

  7. Step 7

Part the dog's hair somewhere between the shoulder blades. You should be able to see a bare patch of skin. This may be a little tricky if your dog has thick hair. If your dog moves around a lot you may want to have someone help by holding the dog still while you are doing this step and the next step.

  8. Step 8

Place the tip of the applicator directly on the bare skin where you have parted the hair. Squeeze the entire contents of the applicator onto the skin.

  9. Step 9

Put your dog's collar back on.

  10. Step 10

Do not bathe your dog or let him swim for 24 hours after application.

  11. Step 11

Repeat this procedure once a month to keep your dog free of ticks and fleas.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do happen to see a tick on your dog after application of Frontline Plus, be assured that the tick will die and fall off, causing no harm to the dog. It will be unable to transmit lyme disease.
