How to Blend Stipple in Makeup

When it comes to makeup, less is definitely more. A heavy layer of makeup can make the pores more noticeable and create a less natural look. It is possible, however, to stipple the makeup in order to use less and still get good coverage. The key to stippled makeup that looks natural is blending it well. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Start with a foundation that is a good match for the skin tone. The color should be slightly lighter than the skin tone if it is going to be used to cover dark circles under the eyes or other dark areas.

    • 2

Wash and dry your hands. Dirt on the hands can blend with the stippled makeup and cause it to become discolored.

    • 3

Rub one finger across the foundation to get enough of it onto the finger. Avoid getting too much makeup on the finger or too much may be applied to the face, defeating the purpose of the stippling technique. Judge the amount of foundation needed by the size of the area that needs the foundation.

Dab the foundation lightly across the area to be covered. Stippling the makeup means applying it in small dots rather than covering the entire area.

    • 5

Blend the stippled makeup by rubbing the finger across the foundation with small gestures. Keep blending gently until the entire area has a thin layer of the foundation on it. You can also use a makeup wedge to blend the stippled areas together. This same technique can be used to stipple concealer and other liquid makeup.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always keep under eye makeup out of the eyes to avoid eye injury.
