Things You'll Need:
- Electric hand drill
- Drill bits
- Screws
- Surface for drilling or screwing nails
- Eye protection
-
Step 1
Decide the type of job that needs to be done. If a hole needs to be made then the appropriate drill bit needs to be installed prior to use. If the job calls for driving screws, then the appropriate screw head bit needs to be installed.
-
Step 2
Line up the bit with the exact point on the wall or surface that needs to be drilled. When using a screw head bit then insert the tip of the bit into the head of the screw. Support the drill with one hand while wrapping the fingers around the handle with one finger on the trigger.
-
Step 3
Begin drilling by slowly pressing the trigger. Apply gentle but firm pressure on the upper part of the drill with the supporting hand. Increase the drilling speed by pressing the trigger more firmly. The drill will increase in speed by applying firm pressure to the trigger. Guide the drill with the supporting hand while applying pressure. Continue pressing the trigger until the hole has been formed or the screw has been drilled.
-
Step 4
Release the trigger and the drill will stop. Remove drill bit when finished.
