How to Apply Wood Grain Filler

1. Grain filler is available in a variety of shades. Choose a shade that matches the wood or stain you plan on using to achieve a natural look. Grain filler can be found in home improvement and hardware stores.

2. Since grain filler dries quickly, you should complete small sections at a time. This will help you apply an even coat on the furniture. Before applying the grain filler, take note of its thickness. After you apply the grain filler to the wood, you will notice that the consistency will change. As you rub the filler into the wood, it will thicken.

3. Apply grain filler to a small section of the furniture with a medium sized paint brush. Use a rag to spread it out evenly over the entire section. Continue to rub until the grain filler becomes the consistency of peanut butter. Do not remove filler until this thickness is achieved.
