Things You'll Need:

  • Rags in a variety of colors
  • Sharp fabric scissors
  1. Step 1

If you're weaving a rag rug, you'll want to select fabric pieces with complimentary colors.

  2. Step 2

To rip fabric, start by snipping little guides every inch or so along the edge of the fabric

  3. Step 3

Hold the fabric firmly on each side of your guide strip and pull apart quickly.

  4. Step 4

Continue pulling the fabric apart until you have enough strips for the project.

Tips & Warnings
  • Allow for fringed strands to hang from the edges of the fabric strips.
  • Snip your guides as straight as possible, to keep your strips uniform in size from one end to the other.
