Cooking shrimp is easy from a technical standpoint, but if done wrong, the meal is ruined. There isn't much to cooking shrimp and pan-frying shrimp is a great way to do it easily and safely.

From Quick Guide: Shellfish 101
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Frying pan, preferably non-stick
  • Shrimp
  • Butter
  • Lemon
  • Parsley
  • Oil
  1. Step 1

Preheat a non-stick frying pan. If cooking the shrimp plain add a touch of oil or butter to the pan and heat through.

  2. Step 2

Keep the heat at medium and add the shrimp to the pan. If you'd like to add some flavor, you can add a squeeze of lemon juice to the shrimp, as well as some butter and chopped parsley.

  3. Step 3

Cook the shrimp until it is pink in color. Shrimp will tell you when it is done visually. Once shrimp is pink, it is done. Continuing to cook shrimp past the point of done will start to make it tough and chewy. This should be avoided.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sauteing shrimp in butter and lemon can be a complete meal served over rice.
  • Make sure all of the shrimp is cooked through. Be sure to turn the shrimp over to check for uncooked portions.
