Step 1
Understand what the options are. Know whether each cut of steak offered is bone-in or boneless, how much each steak weighs, and what cut of meat each steak is.Each of the options will come down to a matter of personal preference.
-
Step 2
Decide on your cut of meat. Your choices will usually include some variety that includes ribeye, sirloin, T-bone, porterhouse, or fillet mignon, among other options. The difference is often the amount of fat that is in each cut, as well as what type of meat is on the steak.A porterhouse and T-bone, for instance, have a strip loin on one side of the bone, and a tenderloin on the other. A filet mignon is just a tenderloin.Knowing the difference between each cut of steak is essential to ordering the right steak.
-
Step 3
Know the size of the steak. If you are not a big eater, the 24-ounce porterhouse may not be your best option. On the other side of that, if you have a large appetite, an eight ounce cut may not be enough.

Step 4
Get it cooked the way you want it. Your options are rare, medium-rare, medium, medium-well and well.
