Have A Killer Body After Having a Baby

  1. Step 1

Create a goal for yourself. Whether you want to look the way you did prior to your "mommy days" or if you want to look like a Hollywood movie star, you have to have motivation and an objective to work towards. Set a clear weight loss goal for yourself.

  2. Step 2

Search for a diet plan that works for you. Do research online to find which plan works best for you and your lifestyle. You will want something that you can stick with long-term. The tried-and-true diets such as "Weight Watchers," "The Zone," and "South Beach" are plans that you can really turn into a way of life. Don't forget that counting calories is still an effective way to go. Of course, if you are breast-feeding, always talk to your doctor before changing your eating habits.

  3. Step 3

Walk. After you have gotten your diet plan figured out, the first step in getting fit is actually taking steps. Start walking to build your leg strength as well as your endurance. Plan a routine of walking a minimum of 2 days a week. Walking is an activity that you can do with your new baby. Pushing a stroller adds great resistance to your walk! Try walking for twenty minutes to start with, then build up your time and distance each day.

  4. Step 4

Tone and Sculpt. Pilates is a wonderful way to sculpt your body. If it is not possible for you to go to a professional Pilates trainer, buy a video series. It is an investment that you will not regret. Pilates targets certain areas of your body and teaches you to strengthen your "core." Do not be intimidated by the exercise positions. Take your time and ease into the workout, do what you can and continue to try until you accomplish the rest. Remember that it is important to keep walking on a regular basis. By doing so, your leg muscles will be strengthened--then you will be able to perform the more rigorous exercises.

  5. Step 5

Choose a target area to work on each day. By doing this, you will not be burned out by watching the same video over and over again. Also, you will be concentrating on toning a certain part of your body one day at a time, which is how trainers train their clients. Pilates is relaxing and energizing at the same time, and it is also a very effective way to tone your body.

  6. Step 6

Be patient and be diligent about working out. The best thing about Pilates is that it is not a rigorous, high-impact exercise that will exhaust you more than staying up all night with your baby. By sticking with a great diet and doing Pilates everyday, you will lose weight, look great, and feel good about yourself again.

Tips & Warnings
  • By walking on a regular basis, you will get your "aerobic" exercise. Pilates is a relaxing exercise that targets and tones your body. The average Pilates video is about 20 minutes.
  • Always consult your physician before changing diet or exercise.
