How to Knit and Pearl

There are two basic stitches in knitting: the knit stitch and the pearl stitch. Both stitches are easy to learn and once you know how to do them you can follow almost any knitting pattern. Read on to learn how to knit and pearl.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yarn
  • Knitting needles

    How to Knit

  1. Step 1

    Cast any number of stitches on to one knitting needle.

  2. Step 2

    Hold the needle with the cast on stitches on it in your left hand and hold the empty needle in your right hand. Hold the yarn in your right hand in back of your needles.

  3. Step 3

    Insert the empty needle through one of the cast on stitches on the left hand needle from front to back.

  4. Step 4

    Wrap the yarn around the right hand needle one time from back to front. The end of the yarn should rest between the two needles.

  5. Step 5

    Pull the right hand needle under the stitch on the left hand needle from back to front. and slip the stitch off of the left hand needle.

  6. Step 6

    One stitch will be on the right hand needle and the rest will be on the left hand needle.

  8. Step 1

  12. Step 5

    Pull the right hand needle under the stitch on the left hand needle from back to front. and slip the stitch off of the left hand needle.

  13. Step 6

    One stitch will be on the right hand needle and the rest will be on the left hand needle.
