  1. Step 1

Keep in mind that helmets rank at the top of the list as far as safety equipment goes. Wearing a helmet could save your life if an accident were to occur. There are many varieties of helmet which protect the riders head from a heavy impact. Make sure your helmet fits you correctly before getting on any horse.

  2. Step 2

Know that safety vests are another great piece of safety equipment. They also help protect against a heavy impact. They can help protect the neck, back and stomach from an injury due to a fall and prevent broken bones.

  3. Step 3

A medical armband worn by the rider should include their name, phone number, address, doctor, allergies or any other personal information. In case an accident were to occur medical personnel can quickly find and use the information while treating the rider.

  4. Step 4

Remember that reflective clothing is great for both horse and rider. This helps them both become more visible if riding at times where there is low light.

  5. Step 5

Understand that bell boots help protect the front and back of the horses hooves. They should fit right against the coronet band. There are many different types of bell boots for many different reasons. You can decide which kind works best for your type of riding.
