    How the Man Does a Left Turn in the Waltz

  1. Step 1

    Begin each step by starting in dance position. Each partner stands with feet together, facing each other. The man puts his right hand around the lady’s waist and his left hand in her right hand. The lady puts her left hand on the man’s shoulder and her right hand in his left hand.

  2. Step 2

    Step forward with your left foot.

  3. Step 3

    Move your right foot forward and to the side and turn it to the left before placing it on the floor.

  4. Step 4

    Bring your left foot next to your right foot.

  5. Step 5

    Step back with your right foot.

  6. Step 6

    Move your left foot back and to the side and turn it to the left before placing it on the floor.

  7. Step 7

    Bring your right foot next to your left foot.

Tips & Warnings
  • Repeat the steps in a smooth rhythm, counting 1 - 2 - 3, 1 - 2 - 3. Practice the turns a few times before you start practicing to music. Songs in 3/4 time are perfect for the waltz.
