How to Determine Karma in Your Astrology
You may know your astrological sun sign, or even your rising sign, but your Karma is different from those. It has to do with the debt you have--both the benefits and lessons unlearned--from previous lives. Some astrologers believe that we choose the time and place of our birth so that we can keep working on the lessons we need to master in order to evolve to a higher state of consciousness. Others believe that the map of the planets at the moment we are born imprints itself onto our bodies and in our minds. Read on to learn more and determine your Karma.

Have your natal chart drawn and read. It is best if you can have your chart interpreted by someone you can trust. If you want to try reading it on your own, there is a website that will generate it for you if you know the exact time and place you were born. (See Resources below).

Karmic astrology reads your natal chart as a kind of a spiritual balance sheet that assesses what you owe to and what you need to build from previous lives. To read your natal chart for Karma, note the placement of your planets as well as their relationship to each other and to the Earth at the center of your chart.

If you can draw a square with the Earth in the middle of them because your planets are at right angles from one another, those planets and the houses they are in signal your Karma. If the planets are in opposition, meaning they are directly opposite one another with the Earth in the middle, they signal your Karma. Learn more about the significance of those planets and those houses. (To learn how to read the houses in your chart, see Resources below).

Saturn is the lord of Karma on your chart. Its placement on your chart can indicate the areas in your life you need to work on. Read up on the house within which it appears and consider not only the problems you have met in this aspect of your life thus far but also how you can work to solve them.

Tips & Warnings
Your natal chart is a wheel that is divided into 12 houses that roughly relate to the 12 astrological signs. That wheel is a map of the placement of the planets, the sun, and the moon at the exact moment of your birth, with the Earth in the middle.
While Karmic astrology considers the residual energy from your past lives, you should not dwell too much on what happened (or didn't) during them. The most important life is the one you are leading right now.
