Learn how to make a fantastic 7-layer salad. This dish is great for parties, holidays and special occasions.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 head lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 package of frozen peas
  • 1 cup of Miracle Whip
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar or artificial sweetener
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1- 8 ounce package of cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8 slices of bacon
  1. Step 1

Assemble all the ingredients except for the frozen peas and begin prep work. Fry the 8 slices of bacon till crisp. When cooled, crumble into little pieces and set aside. Cut onion into thin slices and then separate into rings and set aside. Wash and chop tomatoes into pieces and set aside. Combine 1 cup Miracle Whip with 1 cup sour cream, set aside. Wash head of lettuce and tear into bite size pieces.

  2. Step 2

Take a baking dish (about 9 x 12 inches will do) and start to layer the lettuce, spreading it evenly over bottom. Spread chopped tomatoes over the lettuce layer. Place onion rings over the tomatoes. Remove the package of frozen peas from the freezer and spread them evenly over the onion layer.

  3. Step 3

Stir the salad dressing mix, adding 1 tablespoon of sugar or artificial sweetener, then salt and pepper to taste. Spread the mixture evenly over the top of the peas. Put the cheese over the dressing and then sprinkle with the bacon bits. Cover baking dish and refrigerate overnight. You can mix the salad prior to serving or just serve in layers.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can leave out the sugar and salt if desired.
  • Another cheese can be substituted for the cheddar if you prefer.
  • Use sweet onions or leeks in place of regular onion.
