How to Clean Flower Bulbs
In the fall, many gardners dig up dahlias and gladiolus and put them up for the winter. Now, its time to clean the bulbs and plant them again. When you go to get them ready, they may be moldy and dusty. Before you throw them out and buy new ones, try this handy clean up method. Does this Spark an idea?

Check the bulbs to make sure that they are not mushy. Unfortunately if the bulbs are soft or rotting there is nothing that can be done to save them. If they seem to be in good shape, try cleaning them.

Mix 2 tbsp. of baby shampoo, 1 tsp. of hydrogen peroxide, and 1 quart of warm water in a bucket.

Bath the bulbs gently in the mixture. Be careful not to break off any tubers.

While washing the bulbs, check the bulbs for any signs of insect infestation.

Rinse the bulbs in clean water.

Let them dry. Choose a day and plant them.
