You're on the ski lift taking in the breath-taking views from what seems like the top the world. Up ahead you can see that the chair lift is coming to an end. Here's how to exit a ski lift properly for your safety and the safety of those on the chair with you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Snowboard
  • Ski wear
  1. Step 1

Prepare yourself for the exit. Turn your body so you are resting firmly on your side with the front of your board facing the exit. You should literally be on your side so that your entire body is facing sideways, not forward.

  2. Step 2

Lift up the front tip of your board as the exit approaches. This helps you avoid catching your board on the snow as you come in for landing, which would be disastrous, embarrassing and probably very painful. Make sure your board is tilted upwards so the bottom of your board is the first thing that touches the ground.

  3. Step 3

Place your board down on the snow as you get to the exit. Make sure it is flat on the ground and facing in the direction that you want to be going. Place your back foot on the pad in the middle of your board, to provide traction.

  4. Step 4

Let the chair push you off as you make your exit. It will give you plenty of push as it moves past you. Then head out on your way.
