An underhand stabbing attack is when an attacker stabs a knife or other weapon in an upwards motion into your body. It is hard to defend against and very dangerous. The best defense is always to run away and avoid the attack. However, in some scenarios it is impossible to evade the assault. In those cases, you will want to know and use the following technique.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

When the attacker brings the knife up towards your body, immediately pull your hips and stomach back in one motion. Jump back with both feet while sucking your stomach inwards and slightly arching your back.

  2. Step 2

As you jump back, bring both your hands down to grab the arm the attacker is using to attack with the weapon. You want to grab the arm close to the wrist without grabbing the weapon.

  3. Step 3

Now you will begin pulling the arm back with all of your power while leveraging with your knees to knock the attacker to the ground with his face down. It will be somewhat of a grappling match.

  4. Step 4

Put one knee on the arm holding the weapon to prevent the attacker from using the arm to stab at you further.

  5. Step 5

Finally begin to strike the attacker in the side of the face and head to gain control of him and leave him incapacitated.

Tips & Warnings
  • This technique is very dangerous to use and is best used only by individuals trained in self-defense. Running away is the best defense in a knife fight.
