Planning a celebration for your mother by inviting relatives and close friends? An inappropriate invitation could put a blemish on the mood of the celebration. Why take that risk, when a colorful printed invitation can highlight the festivity of such a wonderful occasion? Creating your own Mother's Day invitation is a wonderful way to add your personal touch.

  • Velum paper
  • Glue
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors

      Choose the background. Choose a colorful color card stock such as pink, lavender, yellow or use your mother's favorite color. You can do it yourself or have a local copy center such as FedEx Kinko’s cut your card stock 4 ¼ “ x 5 ½” and whole punch 2 holes on top of the card stock.

      Create the wording for the invitation. For example: Happy Mother’s DayJoin us in celebrating the heart of our family DateTimeLocationRSVP

      Choose a white sheer velum paper for printing the celebration information on. You can do it yourself or have a local copy center such as FedEx Kinko’s cut your velum paper 4 ¼ “ x 5 ½”, print your information, and hole punch 2 holes on top of the paper. You will need to save the wording on a disk or USB for a clear mock copy.

      Make copies of a picture of your mother and glue it to the card stock for an added personal touch. For a splash of creativity, trim the sides of the velum paper with jagged edge scissors.

      Assemble your Mother’s Day invitations with ribbon that matches the card stock. Cut the ribbon 7”, place the velum paper on top, string the ribbon through the two holes from the front to the back. Next, string the ribbon back through the opposite holes from the back to the front. Finish by slightly pulling the ends and trimming the ribbon.

  • If needed, insert the following information on a business card size paper: Ask your guest to bring something and/or give directions to the location.
