Step 1
Step lightly on your puppy's hind paws when he jumps up on you. This is not meant to hurt the puppy, so be careful!
-
Step 2
Gently bump your dog in the chest with your knee when she jumps up.
-
Step 3
Gently grab his front paws and push him backward until he loses balance.
-
Step 4
Follow any of the above methods with the forceful command, "No!"
-
Step 5
After your puppy gets down, turn your back, walk away and ignore her for a few minutes.
-
Step 6
Pet and praise your puppy after you ignore him and he is able to stay down for a few minutes.

on 12/25/2008 I disagree with these methods and strongly believe that body language methods work better than these physical methods. For instance, if your dog is jumping on you, cross your arms, turn away and look away. If he comes around to the other side after you turn around just turn around again, look away and seem disinterested. Your dog will soon realize you are in charge and not playing his game.
