How to Strengthen Lower Back With Chest Raises

Many people use strength training to build the back muscles. However they often neglect the lower back, but the lower back serves a very important function in all lifting. Here is an exercise that can strengthen the lower back effectively and is safe to perform

Things You'll Need:

    Instructions on Doing Chest Raises

  1. Step 1
    Chest Raise
    Chest Raise

    Start by lying face down on the mat. Your arms should be stretched out besides you with the palms facing up.

  2. Step 2
    Chest Raise 2
    Chest Raise 2

    Lift the feet, arms and chest off the floor at the same time. Lift as high as possible and hold for 3 seconds

  3. Step 3
    Chest Raise
    Chest Raise

    Relax the body.

  4. Step 4

    Return to the starting position and repeat. Do 5 reps of 3 sets.

Tips & Warnings
  • The back can easily be injured if exercises are not performed correctly. Warm up the muscles and stretch well before exercising. Maintain the proper technique at all times.
  • Don't forget to breathe correctly. Breathe in as legs and arms are raised. Breathe out as the legs and arms are lowered.
