Visiting a new country is always an exciting adventure, but it can make you nervous if you are visiting a new culture. Preparing yourself for the possibilities is a good idea. Here are some tips on how to fit in within Israeli society.

1. Speak your mind. Israelis will not be afraid to voice their opinion if they feel they've been caused a huge injustice, even if that injustice is being overcharged for a pack of cigarettes. Rules are meant to be broken in Israel, and as long as you aren't doing anything illegal, they are constantly bended.
2. Negotiate on prices: Even if you are in what appears to be a prestigious clothing store in an upscale mall, you may be able to receive a discount on items. Israelis will bargain for anything, because they don't feel they have anything to lose by asking.
3. Ask for what you need. If you need customer service, you will have to literally get in the face of a salesperson and ask for assistance. Don't be offended if a receptionist pretends you don't exist--it's not personal, it's just in their culture.
4. Take pride in who you are. Don't let someone make you feel inadequate. Always defend your views and be confident!
5. Show kindness whenever possible. Israelis are a very giving society.
