Make Paper Snowmen

Making paper snowmen is a simple and fun activity for elementary school children--great for an in-class art project or a snow day at home. Imaginations are free to wander and cleanup is minimal.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thick white paper (posterboard works best)
  • Colored construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Crayons, colored pencils or markers
  • Circular stencils
  • Paper towel tube

    How to Make Paper Snowmen

  1. Step 1

Draw or trace a large circle, a medium circle and a small circle on white paper. Cut them out.

  2. Step 2

Lay the medium circle so that its bottom overlaps a bit with the large circle's top; glue together the overlapping section. Lay the small circle so that its bottom overlaps a bit with the medium circle's top; glue together the overlapping section.

  3. Step 3

Draw arms, a nose and decorations (i.e., hats, mittens, scarfs, buttons) on colored construction paper. Cut them out and glue them where they belong.

  4. Step 4

Use crayons, markers or colored pencils to add eyes and a mouth. Add stripes, polka dots and other patterns to the decorations.

  5. Step 5

Glue a paper towel tube stand to the back of the snowman.

Tips & Warnings
  • Glue sticks tend to be less messy and create less crinkles in paper than glue from a jar or bottle.
  • Never let young children cut unless they are using safety scissors.
