I will tell you how to make southern fried steak for a delicious dinner. This will become one of your families’ favorites.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin by gathering everything needed for this recipe. Place the flour in the dredging dish and lightly cover the flour with pepper, then add enough salt to cover the flour. Mix this until the pepper can be seen throughout the flour.

  2. Step 2

Crack the egg in the small bowl and lightly beat. Place enough cooking oil in the skillet to cover the bottom. Turn burner on to medium heat.

  3. Step 3

Remove steak from package and cut into desired size pieces. This should make about 6-8 nice pieces. Now take 1 piece of steak and place it in the egg and cover with egg. Remove it from the egg and place it in the flour mixture. Cover the steak with the flour mixture. Remove steak and place it in the hot skillet. Continue in this manner until all pieces of steak are in the skillet. Do not crowd the skillet. If necessary, fry a few pieces, remove them and then dredge more to put in the skillet in the place of ones you removed.

  4. Step 4

Fry the steak until golden brown of both sides. Remove from skillet and place on paper towel to help drain oil from steak. Crowding the skillet will only "steam" your steak and it will not get cripsy.

  5. Step 5

Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans and a salad for a balanced meal.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your oil seems to get low, add more oil to the skillet to keep the steak from burning.
  • Do not over cook. Steak will get tough and not appetizing at all.
