Waffle irons are a quick and reliable tool for making the perfect waffles. Nevertheless, if you do not clean waffle irons regularly, they can become unsightly. Learn how to clean waffle irons easily and quickly by following these tips:

From Quick Guide: Waffles
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Sink Full of Warm Water
  • Nylon Scrub Pad
  • Damp Cloth
  • Slice of Bread
  • Butter

    How to Clean Waffle Irons

  1. Step 1

Unplug your waffle iron after each use, prior to cleaning. It is ready to be cleaned when it is cool to the touch.

  2. Step 2

Clean it after each use. This will make extensive cleaning of waffle irons unecessary. Brush away crumbs and clean lightly with a damp cloth.

  3. Step 3

Remove baked on batter or burnt crumbs by detatching the waffle iron grid. Place it in a sink full of warm water. If batter doesn't come off easily in a few moments, gently scrub the grid with a nylon scrubber.

  4. Step 4

Maintain your waffle iron to prevent it from sticking and burning. In order to do this, you can grease your waffle iron: Butter both sides of a slice of bread and lay it on the waffle iron to brown. Discard bread once it is browned. This will keep all of the indentations greased.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never place electrical appliances or gadgets in water.
  • Waffle irons that do not have a detachable grid should never be placed in water.
