Popular in Lincoln's time, chinstrap beards are beginning to make a comeback. Knowing how to trim your beard can help yours to stand out as one of exceptional quality.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An electric trimmer
  • Small scissors
  • A razor
  1. Step 1

Take the electric trimmer and outline the beard, leaving extra hair on the top and bottom as a margin for error as you trim more.

  2. Step 2

Put the guard on the trimmer and set it one notch longer than you intend your final beard length to be.

  3. Step 3

Take the guard off of the trimmer and use it to finish the edges. Make sure to use effort to keep stray hairs from manifesting themselves on the bottom edge. Follow up by trimming it with the guard to the desired length.

  4. Step 4

Use the razor to clean the edges around the beard, keeping it free of stubble and hair.

Tips & Warnings
  • Trimming hair is faster than growing hair, so leave yourself margins until you are finished.
  • Razors and trimmers are sharp. Be careful.
