Position your cursor with the mouse on your desktop on any area except a toolbar or icon.

Right-click your mouse to bring up a drop-down menu.

Scroll to the very last option on the menu, and left-click on "Properties". This brings up the Display Properties Dialogue Box. Click on the "Desktop" tab, the second from left.

Choose from the desktop wallpaper files that Microsoft supplies with the Windows operating system. If you find one you like, click on it to choose, then click "OK" to set the wallpaper.

Click on the "Browse" button, which brings up a Browse Dialog Box if you have an image on your hard drive. Explore through folders to select the photo you want, click to select the photo. Then, click "Open", which closes the Browse Dialogue Box, and returns to the Display Properties Dialogue Box, where a preview of your chosen picture appears.

Click "Apply" to set the wallpaper once you are satisfied with the image.

Be sure any photos used are large enough to fit the desktop or can be stretched without distortion. Utilize the preview pane in the Display Properties Dialogue box to ensure proper fit.
