People in the South simply love sweet tea. Sweet tea in the South is as popular as hot tea is in England. Unfortunately, Southerners love super sweet tea, which is extremely unhealthy. Luckily, there are ways to enjoy the sweet flavor without all the calories. In fact, you can make sweet tea down right healthy.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use green or white tea. Both types of tea have their advantages. First of all, green tea has been proven to help with weight loss. White tea, on the other hand, is loaded with antioxidants. Either option you choose is healthier than using plain tea bags. They are also a great way to add additional flavor.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your tea with pure or filtered water. These options are healthier and they don't alter the flavor of your sweet tea.

  3. Step 3

Add a sugar substitute. While the tea may be healthy, you can quickly ruin it by adding sugar. Thankfully, you can now find substitutes that taste just like sugar. This means you'll get the extra sweet flavor you love, without all the calories.

  4. Step 4

Choose healthy flavors. If you like adding additional flavor to your sweet tea, be sure you make healthy choices. For example, add crushed berries, fresh lemon juice, ginger, or even mint.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure the tea you choose is caffeine-free.
