A "V" blade mandoline kit is a fantastic and simple way to slice, dice, mince, and chop your vegetables, fruit, cheese, meats, and more! The kits are very easy to clean and store.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A "V" blade mandoline slicing kit.
  • A fruit or a vegetable (meats and cheeses are fine as well)

Using Your V-Blade Mandoline Slicing Kit!

  1. Step 1

Slide your V-blade into your Mandoline slicing kit.

  2. Step 2

Take your food item (let's say in this instance we are slicing onions), and cut it up to roughly a two-inch diameter (making sure in the process that the onion is going to be able to fit properly into the food holder of your slicing kit). De-skin your onion, and then place it onto the food holder.

  3. Step 3

Place the food holder onto the slicing kit, and slide it up and down the tracks of the slicing kit. Make sure that it connects and touches the grooves of the slicer.

  4. Step 4

Insert your onion onto the food holder, then press down firmly and slide it up and down the kit.

  5. Step 5

Voila! Now you have sliced onions! Much faster than cutting the onions up on your own, and no food wasted. Now you can go on to make onion rings, add another topping to your salad, or anything else your heart desires.

Tips & Warnings
  • Put the mandoline on top of a damp towel for extra stability.
  • Buy a mandoline that comes with a handguard (not all of them come with hand protectors, so double-check when you're making your purchase).
  • Do not try to slice the last teensy bit of the fruit or the vegetable. That part you can slice up by hand, or simply throw it out. Otherwise you'll end up most likely chopping a pinky off (definitely not worth it).
  • Mandoline blades are EXTREMELY sharp, and should be stored with extra caution (make sure they're not within the reach of children, especially!)
