How to Make a Frankenstein Costume. One of the most recognizable monsters ever, Frankenstein makes one scary creature for a Halloween party. This is an easy and quick costume to make if you follow these instructions.

Step 1

Purchase a black blazer-type jacket, a dark t-shirt and platform shoes from a thrift store, if you don't happen to have any in your closet. The Frankenstein monster always looked too big for his clothes, so if the jacket sleeves are too short and it won't button, all the better. Any dark pants complete the outfit.

Step 2

Get green make up and Frankenstein neck bolts from a costume supply. The neck bolts can also be purchased online. You may need spirit gum to attach the bolts. Some bolts have wires that fit around your neck.

Step 3

Paint your fingernails with black nail polish.

Step 4

Apply a generous amount of mousse or gel to your hair and slick it back. No bangs are allowed on this monster.

Step 5

Cover your face, neck and hands with green make up. Put brown eye shadow on your upper lids and underneath your eyes. Use black eyeliner to outline and define the eyes. Draw a scar line and stitches on your forehead with the same eyeliner pencil.

Step 6

Go out to your party and have a good time. Walk around with your arms straight out and make grunting noises.

Tip

If creating the Frankenstein costume for a child, add reflective tape on the front and back for safety.
