How to Glue Rhinestones to Clothing

It's fun to create and embellish your own clothing. Personalizing items is great for gifts, craft time with kids and just some personal enjoyment. Rhinestones are hugely popular and create an instant shine to all things they touch. Here's how to glue them to clothing.

Things You'll Need

• Glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Fabric glue
• Clothing

Instructions

1. Set up a work station where you can lay the clothing item flat and plug in your glue gun. You can use fabric glue instead of hot glue if you choose. Get your rhinestones together and set out the pattern you're going for.

2. Set the rhinestones on the actual item so you can see what they look like and ensure you're happy with the design. Then removes the rhinestones and flip them over so the flat white side is showing.

3. Place glue dollops in the spaces where your design will be. Your best bet is to put a couple glue spots down at a time. Then place the rhinestones over the glue spots and gently press them down. Give each spot a few seconds to cool.

4. Then press down each rhinestone firmly to ensure it is stuck. Repeat the process until you have glued down all the rhinestones.

5. Remove any stray glue strands by pulling them off and clipping off the ends if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

• Use small dollops of glue. You can always add more, but it's difficult to remove it.

• Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue. You might consider wearing a thimble and pressing the rhinestone on with your covered finger.
