How to Type With a Virtual Keyboard

In this article you will learn how to find the virtual on-screen keyboard with either Windows XP operating system or the Windows Vista operating system. You will also learn how to type using a virtual on-screen keyboard.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    In Windows XP, click "Start." Then click on "All Programs." Next click on "Accessories" then click "Accessibility." Select "On screen keyboard."

  2. Step 2

    In Windows Vista, click the round window logo on the bottom left of your screen, then click "All Programs." Next click on "Accessories" and then click on "Ease of Access." Then you must select "On-screen Keyboard."

  3. Step 3

    Top use the on-screen virtual keyboard, use your mouse and click where on your page you want the text. For example if you are using it to type a URL into your web browser, put your mouse cursor in your browser's address bar. Move the mouse to the on-screen keyboard and click the letters. For capital letters, click the shift key then click the capital letter you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • All virtual keyboard keys work just as they would if you were typing on a standard computer keyboard.
